Burwood RSL Gives out over $650,000 to the
Community, August, 2009

Over 70 community & charitable bodies in the Inner West are reaping the benefits from the RSL Club’s annual donations of over $651,674.  This hugely generous amount demonstrates the Club’s continuing loyalty to the community and its dedication to providing assistance.  Andrew Anderson, General Manager of Burwood RSL Club says  “The Club is proud to give back to the community that we belong to.  All recipients of this year’s funding were well deserved and it’s incredibly satisfying to see so many worthwhile projects funded.”
Community organisations are invited to apply for funding towards local community service needs of the Burwood Area through the CDSE Scheme. Applications for projects and services assisting people with disabilities, aged, non-English speaking backgrounds, women & young people are particularly encouraged. Applications are assessed by the CDSE Local Committee comprising of representatives from Burwood Council, Department of Community Services, Council of Social Services of NSW and Burwood RSL Club.
This year’s major beneficiaries include:

FRANS – "The group can now expand by offering people with disabilities the opportunity to learn independent domestic living skills.  Our participants  are very excited and their families are very happy to hear the good news.  Thank you so much Burwood RSL Club." Matt Spanko, Manager

The Infants Home – We are extremely delighted to have the support of the club.  Without the support of the community and organizations such as yours we would not be able to continue to provide the vital help and support that children desperately need.  Acting CEO, Infants Home.

Burwood Football Club - Not only has the sponsorship assisted the club to continue to operate, it also assisted with a few little luxuries such as kit bags and new jerseys.  All the girls are proud to be associated with Burwood RSL.  Glenn Errington.

Technical Aid to the DisabledBurwood RSL Club’s donation will enable TAD to provide computes to young people with disabilities.  This kind of project helps by generating happiness, promoting self esteem, confidence and increasing independence.  Development Coordinator, TAD
